2022年2月24日、ロシア軍はウクライナ共和国への理不尽な軍事侵略を開始しました。

ウクライナの各地では、兵士のみならず、子どもを含む多くの市民の命―かけがいの無い命が、刻々と奪われています。さらにプーチンロシア大統領は、核兵器の使用さえ示唆するという、人類の存続すら危険にさらす策動さえみせています。これらは、人々が過去多くの犠牲を払って平和を求めて築いてきた国際法への明白な違反であり、自ら常任理事国である国際連合の憲章に反するものです。

同時に、この機に乗じて、日本国内では憲法を改悪する動きが強まり、2月27日のTV番組では、安倍元首相が日本の「非核三原則」に反する「核共有」を示唆する発言を行いました。唯一の被爆国に生きる私たちは平和を希求する道に逆行するこれらの動きを断じて許すことはできません。

日本科学者会議東京支部は、1965年の創立以来、一貫して日本の科学の自主的・総合的な発展を願い、科学者としての社会的責任を果たすため、核兵器の廃絶を含む平和・軍縮の課題、環境を保全し人間のいのちとくらしを守る課題に取り組んできました。

私たちは、今、ロシアのウクライナへの侵略に抗議し、日本国内はもとより、ロシア国内で侵略に反対する勇気ある人々、そして世界の平和を求める全ての人々と連帯し、ロシア軍が一刻も早く攻撃を中止し、ウクライナから撤退し、平和な世界の構築に向かうことを強く求めます。

Statement.

On February 24, 2022, Russian military forces launched an unreasonable military invasion into the Republic of Ukraine.

In various parts of Ukraine, not only soldiers but also many civilians, including children, are losing their lives - their irreplaceable lives - every minute. Furthermore, Russian President Vladimir Putin has even suggested the use of nuclear weapons, a move that could endanger the very survival of the human race. This is a clear violation of international law, for which people have sacrificed so much in the past in pursuit of peace, and violates the Charter of the United Nations, of which Russia is a permanent member.

At the same time, taking advantage of this opportunity, there is a growing movement in Japan to revise the Constitution, and on February 27, former Prime Minister Abe made a statement on a TV program suggesting “nuclear sharing” which violates Japan's “three non-nuclear principles.” Living in the only country to have experienced the atomic bombings, we cannot allow these moves contrary to the path of pursuing peace.

Since its founding in 1965, the Tokyo Branch of JSA has consistently worked for independent and comprehensive developments of science in Japan. To fulfill our social responsibility as scientists, we have addressed issues of peace and disarmament, including the abolition of nuclear weapons, preservation of the environment and protection of human life and livelihood.

We now protest Russia's invasion into Ukraine, and in solidarity with the courageous people in Japan and in Russia who oppose the aggression, as well as with all those who seek peace in the world, we strongly demand that the Russian military cease its aggression immediately, withdraw from Ukraine, and work instead toward building a peaceful world.
